Well, I just got my yearly website bill notice. At least, the thing telling me I have to renew before December 2nd or my website will implode.
I'm not entirely sure whether or not I should bother renewing. This site host is dirt cheap with great service, but it's nothing that I can't post on a site like DeviantArt or Sheezy, which don't cost me any money. On top of that, I'd rather not keep the domain name of Kiwi-chan Studios anymore.
Also, I have to admit that I don't really have fans anymore. Three viewers who could see my stuff on other sites aren't quite enough to justify spending 115 bucks a year on a website.
This is just a heads up. I might renew the site, I might switch to a new domain name, or I may also vanish off the internet. This forum would still be here in either case.
If I were to renew the site with a different domain name, I still don't know what it would be. Nobody understood "Ceilidh of One." I could try something more ambiguous, like "Sentient Pens" or one blatantly featuring my name, like "Ceilidh Art." I dunno. Opinions, suggestions, financial incentives to keep my site? Anyone?

I sort of have the same issue. Some day though I expect I'll want to revamp my site. Mostly I use it as a referral source when meeting nom people online or in person, especially for music links.
You though shouldn't get rid of your site even if you have no fans. It's great proof of your site design skills which can't be proven on DA. You may be looking for local retail labor soon, but don't write off your career ambitions.
I agree that the name KiwiChanStudios was always a bit of a rash undurable infatuation.
My site has plenty of space. Why don't you move all your stuff to ereiam.com/kiwi for the next year or two, help justify my own paying $115/yr. You can get a virtual domain name which points to that subdomain name. You can make a graphic link for folks who land on the ereiam homepage. We might actually fare better sharing our visitors, and have cause to maintain our sites.
The next phase of ereiam might be a free js game modelling/renderer section. It wouldn't hurt for game creators to run into your work in the course of downloading a renderer, as undoubtedly it's worthless without creating content (and Kbpinkie/Tarot/Mermaids/ Lawn-Gnomes content won't also be open-source give-aways).
I'm happy with 'ereiam'. If I had it to do over, I might have just used my name instead.
Hmm, amazing. I still get 250 unique non-robot visitors per month downloading 1000 pages.

Upon further study of stats, apparently people visit mostly to use my free chess game these days. That indicates to me that a free renderer would also be a good site attractor.

No one really needs to understand Ceilidh of One. Its like Tenjen. Unless i tell people, they dont know what it is.
There are those who realise what CoO would mean Ceilidh.

Erk. Ceilidh of One was supposed to be a joke. I suppose the best literal translation would be, "Party of One." I've gotten complaints that, as one word for a URL or as a username, nobody remembers how to spell "ceilidhofone" or even clicks that it's three words.
I asked on other sites and got responses like, "I've only been to your site twice" and "I just found your site again after a few years absence." People don't bother to check out my site if they can view my content on a site where they can comment and rate and such.
I guess the biggest factor in this is money. I don't have a job yet and my stepdad just took my last fifteen bucks so he could tip the guys who moved our piano. If I can afford it, what I wanna do is come up with a better URL and keep my site up, perhaps using one of those photo album templates so people can comment on my work.

Ceiling ID ho phone? Yeah, could be a problem. I get people misspelling just Kristal, while I carefully spell it to them.
Site up where? It's your URL from your own domain registrar that people will find you through, besides after the spiders relocate your content, which probably takes less than two days these days, if not within an hour once your site is flagged as actively posting content. - My point being, save money on your storage using my site, unless you need MS add-ons. I have php & sql. So your site will begin with ereiam. Even pros host as subdomains these days. Just make sure your registrar stays cheap and lets you point to subdomains.
Piano. Yeah, that can be worth a tip. I just had to have the new neighbor help me move stuff in my house.

I just got an email that I really didn't wanna get... A notice saying my website will automatically renew on the 17th of this month, not the 2nd of December. That's five days and I don't have money! GAAAH!
EDIT: Okay, I'm no longer set up to automatically renew my website. Unless something really awesome and miraculous happens, the site will go down on December 2nd. However, if I can cough up about 15 bucks, I can keep the domain name reserved for once I do have money.

Ack. I had to deal with a couple of those myself.
There was a time I was trying to pay you $30/mo. Perhaps I should just make a gift of funding your site. That's how you got started in the first place. My sending up a computer and internet account, and I was quite pleased with the outcome.
