I guess I shouldn't wait till I'm too tired to think up a post before catching up here (no, that's not my new years resolution).
Well, an adventure is on my list. Mostly though it's actually doing the same old stuff I've had planned.

Yay, your first retrospective. I think I missed that one of your selkie.
So what did end up being the best way to do lines in PS?

Oh. On scanned pictures, you set the line-art layer above the color layers and set the lines to "multiply." Makes it so you see what black lines but not the white space. Until I learned that trick, I was carefully filling in with the paint bucket and trying to hide the tiny white border that formed around the lines, which was especially obvious in dark-filled areas. The first comic page I ever used this method on was Humans p.10.
It's not really my first retrospective. It's my first meme, though.

I recall suggesting that to you at one point. You were probably still attached to paint buckets and not used to layers then. I recall making you some macros that had that as a step but included grow-selection and such. The real issue (from what I was trying to do for you at the time) wasn't making use of lines, but how to get good subtle line sources from pencil scans in the first place. You wanted solid selectable lines so I was trying out things like gray tri-tone lines. I seem to also recall suggesting doing fills with solid thin lines then adding a wider line multiply layer. I think the appeal of Manga Studio for you was that you could retain the solid line approach. Multiply or darken both did the trick, I seem to recall. Maybe not. Multiply would result in colored lines, but a lt gray line wouldn't darken a dark color. Using the line layer as a hue layer could result in lt. gray fringes against dark colors. To really cover all the bases probably takes several line layers in different roles.
Speaking of resolutions, irritated friend D. is probably right that LOTRO is draining me more than charging me. I'd planned to cut it down to just a few hours by this time.

I'm still going strong on the New Years resolutions. Went to the health club for the second time today, I've been checking online for new jobs every could days, and I've been working diligently on those ten free sketches, but I won't post them until I've finished all ten.

I'm impressed. I still haven't really gotten around to coming up with my New Year's resolutions. I'm kind of waiting to surface from this video game.
Funny, your new avatar. My next game goal is to strat cooking up blueberry pies.

Still been going to the gym and I've been drawing a LOT... Still have one more free sketch to finish because I keep getting sidetracked with my own projects.

I know one thing that's important this year, and that's leaving the house again. I should put getting my laptop working on the priority list so I can suntan at my local hiking / Japanese-garden park.
